Supporting the local communities in which we live and work is really important to us. We want to build a real future for children, which is the focus for all our charitable partnerships.

We are working to build "a real future for children" in the remote Rwenzori region of Western Uganda.

We have been working with Save the Children to help bring education to the region. In 2008, only 50% children went to primary school. With our help, by building classrooms, providing materials and supporting teachers, over 70% children are now attending school.

Our next challenge is to help keep the children in school once they have enrolled, by improving the quality of teaching and facilities.

We are also leveraging our strength as a retailer to source goods from Uganda to sell in our stores under our special brand, the Rwenzori Trading Company. Our objective is to promote trade, provide skills, employment and help achieve long-term improvement to the lives of people in the Rwenzori communities of Uganda.

Action for Children is the children's charity that helps excluded children and young people facing poverty, disability and abuse to reach their full potential.

Each of our stores is supporting a number of Action for Children projects in their community, so every penny you give is helping a local disadvantaged child.

The Community Fund supports local charities close to our employees' hearts.

Employees who have been with us for a year can apply for a grant or matched fundraising to go to a local charity that matters to them.

The Community Fund has already supported over 200 local causes.

Comic Relief
HomeSense's first Red Nose Day was in 2011, when we got involved selling the stunning Liberty for Comic Relief shopper. Thanks also to our generous customers and our fabulous fundraising employees, together with our sister store TK Maxx, we raised over £3 million for Comic Relief, helping people living unimaginably tough lives across the UK and Africa.

Cancer Research UK
We are also a support of Cancer Research UK. In 2010 we ran our clothes and homeware collection campaign, together with TK Maxx raising over £2.5 million worth of donations, all dedicated to help beat childhood cancer.

Woodland Trust
We are a long-term partner of the Woodland Trust, participating in their Christmas card recycling scheme and donating profits from our bags for life to the charity to help plant more native trees in the UK, to be enjoyed and valued by everyone.
