We’re the proud sponsors of the Prince’s Trust Awards

As part of our commitment to supporting vulnerable children and helping young people fulfill their potential, last month we were once again proud sponsors of The Prince's Trust Awards. The awards ceremony recognises incredible young people who have succeeded against the odds, improved their chances in life and had a positive impact on their local community.

What we do

TK Maxx and Homesense have been partners of The Prince’s Trust since 2013 – and we are one of the biggest contributors to the Get into Retail programme. The scheme is a two to six week course that develops young people’s skills in the retail sector. Since the partnership began, over 70% of young people who have taken the course went on to full time employment at TK Maxx or Homesense.

An inspiring day

On March 6th we joined HRH Prince of Wales and a host of celebrities at the London Palladium for an amazing afternoon celebrating young people achieving their potential. With eight award categories, it was an incredibly inspiring event – with so many individuals who had overcome obstacles with strength and bravery.

Young Achiever of the Year

As the sponsors of the ‘Young Achiever Award’, we were thrilled to be supporting young people who have struggled through unimaginable difficulties to transform their lives. Daisy McDonnell was the deserving winner, having endured a traumatic bereavement and homelessness, she enrolled on the Prince’s Trust Team programme – and has secured work as an outdoor instructor. She has just completed her yacht masters and has a bright future ahead of her.

One of our own

Earlier in the year, we were thrilled to award Caroline Wales with the Young Achiever Award at one of the regional heats in Leeds. Her problems with epilepsy had made employment very difficult for her, but thanks to our Get into Retail scheme she found work as a retail assistant at TK Maxx.

“I had to do a double take when I got offered a job at the end. I couldn’t quite believe it. Get into Retail helped me escape the limits of my condition and get on with my life. I’ve been at TK Maxx for two years now and I finally feel free,” said Caroline.
